Two terms used in the title, which evoke two almost opposite conditions
and call for co-existence at the same time, reflect the mental condition
of Sarajvo. This city incorporating a mixture of cultures has always
existed in an undetermined space of various lifestyles, which would
not have been possible without the laiser-faire attitude of people towards
the world and fellow citizens.
The
criterion used in the selection of artists for the 10th Biennial of
Young Artists from Europe and the Mediterranean was that they deal with
chaos and communication in direct relation to "former Yuga".
As mentioned above, it will be impossible to re-create a multicultural
society by suppressing and forgetting this experience. This is why we
have chosen projects that consider war as the most radical condition
of chaos and communication.Through various means of expression, the
artists problematise violence and the attemps to turn it into an aesthetic
object, or they invent a language to fight the discourse of violence
by using those aesthetic practices that present visual violence and
the chaos of the communication ...
